Thomas Greens
See that shop fitters have for the last couple of weeks been, in at the old Thomas Greens unit.
Any idea what is on its way?
Yes I heard the same Julie. I think they are taking a great risk with so many bars/restaurants trying to earn a living at the moment and many closing down !! But Good Luck to them. I hope their prices are reasonable and maybe they will have some entertainment on some evenings - but that's another subject isn't it?
its gonna be called hogs head, and is going to be an english run bar/restaurant.
as for entertainment, no point any places having that anymore, with the council putting even more pressure on businesses but making them turn off music by 1.30am or be fined!!! it may be residential here but is also a holiday resort, and the council need to realise that if the holiday makers come ova and have a crap holiday because of early closing times they wont come back, and i totally agree with them, i live here and get fed up at the weekend when iam out as just as things are getting into full swing everything closes!!! not good at all, but good luck to the owners, they are going to need it!
I do not mind at all the music stopping at say mid-night. That is quite late enough when you've had a nice meal at say 8.00 pm and the music starts around 9.00 pm. So 9.00 to midnight is absolutely fine with me, and I would say, the majority of residents over here (also a lot of holiday makers have children/babies so would not wan't to be out until after 1.30 am. For late times (or early mornings) Celebration Cakes you need to go to Benidorm. Just give permission for our restaurants/bars to have live music up to 12.00 (midnight). That's quite late enough - and I think that is being very considerate to the neighbours as well.
It is not only the people who live by these bars who suffer from their late opening, and don't forget those bars down by the new Consum have not been there all that long. They were not there when I moved to Spain! It is also the people who live where these people walk home, and beleive me, not quietly either. This is not entirely a holiday area - there are people who live here who have to go to work the next day. . The vast majority of ex-pats who live here are retired. and do they want to be out drinking and dancing until 1.30 in the morning. I think 12 0'clock is late enough to have music.

Im so glad everything is working out for you.....I will pop in and see you once I have moved over...Do you have a shop?? or do you make your cakes from home???
Do you miss uk?
Do you miss UK? If you do what do you miss the most? :)
My family & friends and also the shops
ie M & S, B.H.S and Boots. Certainly not the weather !!
The cheap flights to get here hahahaha, as they are all soooo expensive now, oh well will have to stay here hee! hee!
Oh Yes Nikki I agree with you - green grass. We don't see much of that in this part of Spain do we ??
There are a few McDonalds over here. I go to the one in Elche shopping mall, but I don't know if they do your milk shakes or not !!
Souxie, I am with you there,I am at the moment in the leafy lanes of Sussex, Sun shining 24 degrees, green fields, Livestock all around me, but then again I love Spain to, there is good and bad for all regions. If only we could stop the corruption that is abundant in Spain, life could be a pleasure.
I miss my family and friends, the green fields and hills , and being able to walk the moors of Lancashire.
I forgot a few things - I really miss not being able to go clothes/shoe shopping on a Sunday - there are hardly any shopping malls open here on a Sunday, except Eroski at Pillar de la Horradada - that is the only one that we have found over here that actually opens Sundays !! Also I am a keen Gambler - No not that kind - the slot machines ie 2p's or if I'm feeling rich the 10p's. I miss places like Hayling Island, Littlehampton Smarts Amusement Arcade, the piers (especially Bognor & Brighton) in Sussex - I like the grabba machines - it's fun, but nothing like that over here in Spain at all. A few rides for the kids on Torrevieja sea front and maybe a grabba machine - similar near the Torrevieja shopping mall. But nowhere you can actually go for a day out for this sort of thing that I know of. That's it for now folks. Might think of a few more things later x
Well I have something in common with you Carol,a liking for places like Brighton(I enjoyed walking down the Lanes)Bognor I had a caravan at Bognor for about 12 years,I also had a penchant on a bright winters day of popping down to Bognor(60 miles) for a bag of chips and eating them on the front,Those were the days,I am sorry Spain but nowhere can you match those memories
Oh Yes - the lanes. I used to go there a lot. I remember getting some lovely dresses there (I don't think you would have that in common with me) ha ha. I bet it's not the same as we remember it now !!
Absolutely nothing!!!!!! (nikki, if you put strawberry ice cream, a splash of milk and a spoon full of strawberry nesquick in the blender it tastes just like a maccy dee shake!)
i only miss my family and friends! nothing else, i have adapted myself to the spanish way of life, if iam going to live here i have to forget all the little british things and stop comparing, otherwise what was the point moving out here! when in rome as they say (or should i say spain lol) i even eat mainly spanish food

Are there any "pay as you go" facilities for holidaymakers similar to Howards Gym and if so what are the costs. Does the gym have free weights? We're over at Easter.
